This film depicts
the story of the meeting, brief romance and separation of
a second-generation Korean resident of Japan and a
Japanese girl. The film focuses on young Koreans in Japan
- their thoughts about life and love; their feelings
about their nation and their race. LEE Hwe-Song, who
wrote the novel on which the film is based, is a Korean
living in Japan. He is the first foreigner to win the
AKUTAGAWA Award, the most authoritative door to the
Japanese literary world.
OOTA Shogo, who worked on the script with OGURI, runs a theatrical group called "Tenkei gekijo" and is an international known playwright and director. This is his first film script. The production crew is the same one that worked on Muddy River. O Sunghil who plays the hero Im Sanjun is a Korean sculptor who was born and lives in Japan. He says that this is his first and last film. A number of Koreans who reside in Japan also cooperated in making this film.
